and wow..things were gonna get dicey at midnight 12/31/99...because it didn;t say 1999..
computers might go haywire..ATMs would stop dispensing cash..traffic signals would start
flashing out of time..maybe even the entire electric grid would stop functioning..
then a funny thing happened on 12/01/2001...nothing. yep. nothing. maybe a glitch here or there but for the most part nothing. great hype though..a lot of unnecessary worry too. something the media circus is really good at.
so now we sit on the verge of a new decade. no worries about technology failures this time. no.this time it is a bit more old skool. worries about jobs. the economy. the two wars that continue to drag on and on...a political structure that seems incapable of doing much, and a lot of , well ...unrest out there. to me, these don't seem like things we should be dwelling on in 2009. or maybe, we should have been thinking sbout some of these things a lot more than we did.
starting with 2010 and the next decade could be the time for re-examining what is important and what should be priorities . and that is a lot better than being scared of Y2k ...
join me for decades of rock the 60s-90s LIVE on new year's eve! it will be a kick!!
and happy NEW DECADE! mark stevens
