Less Human Than Human

I read a story today about an adult male German Shepherd whose leash was attached to the rear of a car as he was dragged around the Colorado National Monument.

"tracks left in the snow tell the story. they initially show the dog walking, then running and then being dragged over about 3 miles up steep and winding Rim Rock Drive. The dog was left near the first tunnel on the west side of the park"

I've shared my life with several German Shepherds, and I experienced a variety of emotions upon learning of this tragic event. By far, the most overwhelming feeling was extreme anger towards the person who obviously cares so little for life. I strongly believe any person capable of animal neglect/abuse is just as capable of committing the same against a person. I sincerely hope the offenders of this dastardly deed are caught and severely punished.

HiYa~ Well here is to bringing in a Bright, Happy, Safe and WEALTHY 2010! Many of us are saying goodbye to several misfortunes this past year from losing jobs, foreclosing on homes and just generally ending dead end things. With that said I always say KARMA KARMA KARMA, so if we all put some good vibes and thoughts out there for 2010 I am sure it will come back to us in a positive way! The one thing I can't stand about a new year is that we all have to remember to put the new year on our date line when writing out checks:) I always forget and end up voiding them or changing them LOL! Hope you have a Bright New Year in 2010!
Much Love

How'd ya Do?

Hoping everybody had a great Christmas! Kids seemed to love it and that is always the big thing for me. We went to see Avatar at the IMAX Christmas Day. OH MY GAWD! That is easily one of the coolest movies I have ever seen! It will still be a great movie when it comes out on DVD, but everybody should make an effort to go see it on the big screen in 3D while they can! Rock On! Coda

Remember y2k??

and wow..things were gonna get dicey at midnight 12/31/99...because it didn;t say 1999..
computers might go haywire..ATMs would stop dispensing cash..traffic signals would start
flashing out of time..maybe even the entire electric grid would stop functioning..

then a funny thing happened on 12/01/2001...nothing. yep. nothing. maybe a glitch here or there but for the most part nothing. great hype though..a lot of unnecessary worry too. something the media circus is really good at.

so now we sit on the verge of a new decade. no worries about technology failures this time. no.this time it is a bit more old skool. worries about jobs. the economy. the two wars that continue to drag on and on...a political structure that seems incapable of doing much, and a lot of , well ...unrest out there. to me, these don't seem like things we should be dwelling on in 2009. or maybe, we should have been thinking sbout some of these things a lot more than we did.

starting with 2010 and the next decade could be the time for re-examining what is important and what should be priorities . and that is a lot better than being scared of Y2k ...

join me for decades of rock the 60s-90s LIVE on new year's eve! it will be a kick!!

and happy NEW DECADE! mark stevens

Real..or Fake??

as we kick into our Shake Rattle and Rock big giveaways this week on 98.1 KKFM...time to ponder the question Real or Fake? Christmas Trees of course...what did you think I meant? As a kid , it was always real trees..bought from the corner tree guy(see Christmas Story the movie)..as the kids left the house, my mom went artificial.

Remember that weird phase of the aluminum trees and those crazy colors? pink and white..yikes!

Of course nothing beats the smell of the the real thing..but they can dry out and turn into big time fire hazards..there are now a few places where you can actually RENT a tree online where it can be returned and re-planted...one company even offers a service where you can get the same tree every year if you want...I kinda like that idea..

But no matter which direction you go..real..fake..rental...just sit back and enjoy it..turn out the house lights and just sit and watch the tree lights ..amazing how relaxing that can be!

rock the holidays! mark stevens

I'm also thinkin' bout doin' some shopping on line..I'm always a little nervous about shopping on line because someone might steel my credit card numbers and stuff...or steal my idenity.....Here's a thought , maybe I could switch with someone who really has an idenity.

HiYa~ So I was going through some pictures over the snowy weekend and found something from when I was like 15 years old.. Doesn't look like I have changed that much which is going to be great so when I am 50 I can say I still look 15 LOL! Stay warm this week and make sure your pets are inside instead of outside:)

Tis the Season....

...or so they always say. With that in mind, Tiger Woods appearantly has been pretty naughty. But dang, she sure is nice! just a thought... Coda ;-p

HiYa~ I miss New York City so much. I thought I would share a picture of this amazing Rueben you can get at Carnegie Deli! If you ever watch the food network when they feature Carengie, it's funny how you recognize everyone working in there as so many of the employees have been there for 20+ years. The Best Food in the world is to be had for you in New York City. I consider myself pretty well traveled and I must say that for me there is no better city, or vibe you get than in New York City! You must go!
