Tiime For You to Leave

Word this morning that David Carradine has been found dead in Thailand at age 72. I was a bit stunned to read that, knowing that i had just seen him in the low budget cult film CRANK :high voltage, and gotten a chuckle at his role in the movie. Of course most of us in my age range will know him fondly as Kwai Chang Caine, from the legendary series Kung Fu. Others might know his many films including the classics Kill Bill (he was Bill) Vol. I and II. I checked his imdb page and was a bit surprised to see over 220 listings, a good portion of those being TV appearances. It also reminded me of one of my favorite David Carradine moments on film his much ballyhooed showdown with CHUCK NORRIS in Lone Wolf Mcquade! in an argyle sweater no less...now that was rockin. But most of my appreciation for David Carradine was the original TV series KUNG FU. it was sooooo 70s banking on the popularity of the martial arts films of the era (including Bruce Lee who was rumored to have had the original idea for Kung Fu ). As the "half breed" half American, half Chinese man who wandered the old west in search of his brother. And of course along the way spreading the tao of Kung Fu and when neccesary dispensing good old foot to side of the head justice! (which is what we always waited for--the inevitable slow motion roundhouse kick or leg sweep YES!) there was another Kung Fu show
in the mid 90s which starred Carradine as well...but it was the original that I remember and is so much a part of my life.

Grasshopper, time for you to leave.
