Concerts are being added to the KKFM Concert List faster than Nadya Suleman can crank out babies. If you haven't looked at it in a while, you should! Daylight savings time starts next weekend; Spring officially starts in a little under three weeks. Add the constantly evolving Spring/Summer concert list, and you've got enough to cause a MASSIVE case of cabin fever!! Awesome!!

Octopus : " GET ME OUTTA HERE"

A female octopus pried loose a water-control valve inside her tank at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium this week, flooding the entire facility with three inches of saltwater.
According to aquarium officials: "the octopus found something loose and just pulled on it. They are very smart creatures." At first the officals thought someone had broken into the aquarium, until they figured out what had happened. Should we be surprised? NOT AT ALL! First we get "Travis" the chimp logging on to the computer, then attacking that woman in Connecticut. and now...an octopus that is SMARTER than the octo-mom --well OK that is not the best comparison..but i think you get the idea.
THE REVOLUTION has begun...the octopi are coming...and its NOT to make some octopussy garden either.

Why we NEED the distractions
Each day, when beginning the 3-7pm show on KKFM--I look through the weird stories we get at the station, coupled with some surfing of the net and odd TV features I may have seen that morning or the day before. WHY? because let's face it...we need the distractions. The Gazette is running a series of articles on the struggles and strains of the economy. It is very well put together with stories so far on foreclosures, and the unfortunate" going out of business" stuff that is plaguing the local retail scene. It ain't fun readin'! Look, down the road I think we are going to emerge from all of this stuff--it is complicated and painful for all of us right now. That is why we look to the "Octo-mom" or "crazy chimp lady" for distraction, and maybe some laughs here and there. American Idol continues to be the empty calorie dish of TV..we know it is not good for us , yet it momentarily satisfies!
Reality shows abound on the cable channels for that same reason. Paul Blart Mall Cop makes huge dollars over Academy Award nominated more serious movies. We lose ourselves in the intricately woven fantasies of LOST, we still watch Dancing with the Stars , we wonder what "Brangelina" was thinking about when Jennifer Aniston was on stage. Distractions are not a bad thing right now! don't feel guilty..ENJOY!

HiYa- Hope you had a nice weekend.. I had a nice memorial for Nigel yesterday at the house.. Thank you to everyone who came over and shared some laughs and punch with our 3 remaining pooches. Nigel would have loved to have been there and was certainly there in spirit. After our vigil, I watched the Red Carpet to the Oscars and then the complete Oscar program.. I was so happy the Slumdog Millionaire took home as many Oscars as they did.. They definately deserved them:) Now onto a new week.. Not much planned other than working and chillaxin'. I forgot to mention I had a live broadcast at The Poppy Seed down in Manitou for the parade on Saturday. When I first moved to Colorado I was so scared of the snow I decided on a place close to the station but after spending time this weekend in Manitou and getting use to the snow, I kinda wished I would have picked living there.. I was certainly in my element. Peace!

Wierd Rules!!!

Did you make it out to the Carnival Parade in Manitou Springs Saturday? If you did, did you see me fall off the Flat Bed trailer that I was announcing from? *I knew I shoulda worn my tennis shoes* A big THANK YOU to Manitou Springs for letting KKFM be a part of that again! This was the 5th year they have had KKFM Host the parade and I have to admit, I look forward to that event more than any other during the year. Absolutely no apparent organization and it comes off great every time!

Everyone Loves a Good Fart!!
Everyone loves to hear a good fart; especially when it happens unexpectedly. That is, unless it's YOU farting in a quiet crowded room. Trevor Cox, a professor at the University of Salford Acoustic Research Center in England, must be very bored. He's created a website where you can listen to different "whoopi cushion" noises and vote for which one you think is funniest.

it's a MADHOUSE......a MADHOUSE!!!!
A 15 year old former TV star chimpanzee brutally attacked the friend of his owner, and was finally shot by police after the rampage. Turns out the chimp was suffering from lyme disease and also had been given xanax as well for "anxiety". The chimp was toilet trained, brushed his teeth and ..here's the rub: COULD LOG ON TO A COMPUTER! what did you expect was gonna happen? spend some time surfing the net, and sooner or later, he was going to be exposed to new ideas..theories...in some cases radical ideas of revolt. In the immortal words of Charlton Heston "...a world where apes rule man? its a MADHOUSE...a MADHOUSE!!!" not so far fetched now, eh?? stevens
Hey Chuck Squire here

WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND!! Jim Coda here... hope everybody had a great V.D. :-)~ My weekend ROCKED! First of all, the Super Show and Swap IS the beginning of the season for me and what a great turn-out this year! Started Saturday morning there with the Station and then headed to Cripple Creek for the Ice Festival. First time I have ever been to that and we had a blast! The boy and I spent the afternoon climbing around the ice sculptures and the little woman went in to beat up the slots in the Gold Rush(again). Brought a new little camera with me but the pictures didn't turn out worth a damn...but the Ice Festival is a annual for me now.
Then on Sunday I got back to the Swap meet as a civilian and spent most the afternoon there. Great to see so many friends and riders again! Didn't get Ruby out this weekend, but it's coming.
Speaking of coming, did you see that big storm hitting California? If the thing cranks it's way through New Mexico, we might get a decent winter storm yet! So far this winter has sucked, haven't got to hit the kids with a single snow-ball all year.
At the station we have found ourselves sitting on a bunch of concertt tickets, so if you are interested in Dokken, Queensryche or the Pink Floyd Laser Spectacualr, make sure you are a part of the KKFM Workforce because we are shoveling them out this week.

HiYa- Hope you had a wonderful weekend.. Many people have today off to celebrate President's Day.. And I have been reading many articles citing Abe Lincoln was the BEST President.. In so many ways I agree with what I have been reading. Over the weekend I took in the movie "Slumdog Millionaire" It was such a GREAT movie.. I recommend it to everyone.. It's not a chick flick or a guy flick it is just plain GREAT. I love Bollywood movies at the end I always look forward to the dancing and Slumdog certainly delivered in that department too. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead:)

Nikki Sixx Spits On Female Fan
Motley Crue bassist recently had a hissy fit on stage when someone threw a bottle of water at him. Nikki got hardcore with the fan; she then starts to cry. Oddly enough, it's the same water bottle he threw into the crowd only seconds earlier. You can clearly hear the verbal assault and see him spit into the crowd at the 1:55 mark of the clip.

The only thing we have to fear is....
PHOBIAS themselves. Or...do we? Friday the 13th. It can send shivers down your spine..make you stay in bed all day. UNLESS we help you deal with your phobias directly , with the therapeutic use of classic rock! Suffer from ALEKTORAPHOBIA? let's spin Dixie Chicken from Little Feat. B-B-B-Baby I Ain't Seen Nuthin Yet--well that might help with your PSELLISMOPHOBIA. THink you're Turning Japanese? Listen to the Vapors and you might get over JAPANOPHOBIA. IF it Hurts so Good...chances are you don't have ODYNEPHOBIA. Foreigner dealt head on with their DIPLOPHOBIA when they penned Double Vision. Take Me To The River commanded the Talking Heads. probably to deal with POTAMOPHOBIA. Thunderstuck? KERAUNOPHOBIA for our boys down under!
The Heat is ON..not for Glenn Frey if he has THERMOPHOBIA. The Stones were able to mount some Wild Horses after they faced their HIPPOPHOBIA. Forget all about putting out that red light Roxanne..she's got ERYTHOPHOBIA. Come on come now TOUCH me girl..uhhh I don't think so..bad case of HAPHEPHOBIA. Meanwhile the Skynyrd boys
probably were touched themselves with a little OLFACTAPHOBIA because That Smell..oooh ooooh That Smell! I THink I'm in Love? uhhhh slow down..PHILOPHOBIA..no wait..that could be PHRONEMOPHOBIA.. Fleetwood Mac doesnt want to know? yep. GNOSIOPHOBIA. Meanwhile my boy Diamond Dave is hollerin about Beautiful Women but not if he has CALIGYNOPHOBIA. wimp. HAppy FRIDAY THE 13th!!! stevens

Hi Chuck Squire here
What a bummer..YES had to cancel their show for Thursday Feb 12th at the Paramount..
Some one with the band or close to the band had a medical emergency..Remember, they had to cancell last Feb(08)at Red Rocks..when Jon Anderson , the singer, became ill..
Well, maybe the 3rd time will be the charm.

Howdee again! Been a while since I've been here, but things have gotten busy here in the hollows of KKFM. First off, did you make it to the Sport and RV Show last weekend? I LOVE those shows! Rarely have a lot of money to spend, but I get into checking out ideas for the coming season. That goes for home and Garden, Landscaping and of course the Super Show and Swap(which is this weekend by the way). KKFM was there for the final voting to see who gets the KKFM and Rocky Mountain Forest Products help with their "Puny Deck" *Whoa* You should have seen that! We put up pictures of the finalists and they started campaigning for votes from everyone who walked through the door! Final results??? Cody Mantiz was the winning KKFM Workforce member.{Thats his deck now} But the credit really should go to his wife; she and her Mom were working the crowd while Cody and his father-in-law were drinking beer. THAT'S Teamwork! *g-g-g* Then we announce the winner and during the excitement I go over to her and say: Your husband just got a bigger deck - what are you gonna do now?!" {ready for this} She grins and says, "I'm gonna sit on it and drink beer!" *I'm jealous*
So are you ready for VD? *valentines day .. geesh* I never am. Never saw the need to make a big deal out of one day reviewing what I let her know all year long. Yup, I usually spend the night on the couch watching "skin-a-max" This year KKFM is making sure you aren't as foolish as I appearantly am and hooking you up with Chocolate, flowers, a massage and maybe even a Diamond from Luisa Graff! Make sure you are locked onto the station for the next week.
The bike has been in the garage since last Saturday, but that doesn't mean we can't still enjoy leather and chrome! The 19th annual Super Show and Swap is this weekend at the Expo Center and I can't wait! For me that show is the beginning of the year. That, and I'm looking for some new leather and there is no place like the Swap Meets and Rally's to get affordable riding grade leather.
Until next time... ROCK ON! Coda
"I'm Somewhat Bewildered.."
Don't get me wrong..I love me some Robert Plant and Alison Krause..but FIVE Grammy's? I heard someone say the other day that the Grammys have lost a lot of their "punch"...due to the fact that there are so many other award shows. Could be true..but the Grammys still command our attention. And I like the fact that they are a somewhat of a hodgepodge..odd pairings of presenters..live performances that sometimes go awry..(Katy Perry anyone?) stuff that works..(the Four Tops salute)..stuff that leaves you scratching your head (Jonas Brothers with Stevie Wonder???) stuff that sounded like a good idea on paper but didn't sound good (Miley and Taylor Swift). It makes the whole thing kind of a trainwreck..you want to turn away but you just can't. And I find myself liking Justin Timberlake more each time he takes the stage..not so much for the music but for his stage presence. Dude is natural born "host" . U2 started things out OK with their latest single from the new album. But the fact that the Plant/Krause "Raising Sand" (critically praised as it was) won the album of the year kinda tells us we are entering some new waters. And that's OK..that;s what music is.stevens

Get the led out...with LEZ Zeppelin
I thought someone was yankin' my appendage when I first heard about this all-girl Led Zeppelin tribute band. Apparently, they're for real, they sound pretty damn good, and they're playing the Bluebird Theatre in Denver on April 12th. Check out the video and tell us what you think!! I haven't been able to confirm whether or not they're actual lesbians, but if they are, they're HOT lesbos!!

There are TWO funny things in life
Okay...so the guys that won the Doritos make your own commercial contest won $1 MILLION dollars (for a commercial they spent $2000 of their own money on) because it popped up number ONE in the USA ad meter. Good for them...and they followed one of the great comedic principles of life --getting hit in the "chips" below the belt is ALWAYD funny...(and that snow globe had to hurt baby!) the other great comedic principle is that heavy set people slipping and falling is ALWAYS funny --just tune into any episode of Funniest Videos and VOILA! oh and for good measure , add in some Looney Tunes sound effects and you...are....GOLDEN ! I liked the commercial (more the story behind it than the actual spot itself)...I also have s soft spot for the Budweiser Clydesdales , and now...I am finding myself laughing at the talking babies on E*TRADE! okay talking babies...creepy at first..BUT now ...kinda funny.. maybe there are THREE funny things in life. Oh and CODA--hate to tell you this but the LIONS are 0-16 my friend...

HiYa- Hope you had a great weekend. The Superbowl was AWESOME! A great game and a even better performance by Bruce Springsteen and E Street band.. Little Stevens even jumped on the mike for Glory Days. If you have never seen these guys in person now is your chance they are coming to Colorado, just visit our KKFM Concert Calendar and buy tickets to the show, I promise you won't be dissapointed! As far as the commercials each year seems to be less and less impressive. I am thinking that if a company spends so much money for a mere 30 secs they would spend equally in creating the ad. Don't get me wrong there were a couple of good ads but for the most part I was not impressed were you?

So did you get your bike out Saturday?!?!?!? You KNOW I did! What a great day it was too! Crystal clear Colorado sky and the perfect temperature! Speaking of riding, first thing this morningn (Mon. 2/2) I started putting the "KKFM Let's Ride" listing back together for the KKFM website. We got such cool responce from it last year that I think we'll be able to get texting on it again so that everybody can quick check to see what is happening next with your cell-phone. If you know somebody with a ride or event coming up, make sure they get me the information as coda@kkfm.com as soon as they have details down.
Did you watch the Superbowl? My grandson's 1st birthday was Sunday so there was a mini-tyrant party going on and I didn't know anybody in my own house except the kids, so I helped them smear cake all over themselve and then headed down to the big screen and watched the game. GREAT GAME this year, the commercials kinda sucked though. And to think I sat down to watch the commercials.. hmmmmmmmmm.
Until next time.. ROCK ON! and be careful on the roads... LOTS of dirt from the sand trucks still out there. Coda
