This situation in Egypt is fascinating to watch. As in Tunisia on the North African coast, much of the mechanics of moving forward with a little social upheaval has been fueled by social media. Facebook and Twitter have kept the fires of revolution stoked.
It is a different world, but with predictable outcomes. Crowds find their way the the main squares whether via word of mouth , newspaper, underground radio or TV..and now social media. Governments respond with confusion, shows of force; opposition leaders emerge with bullhorns and chanting crowds.
The main difference with these fledgling revolts in Egypt and Tunisia seems to be the speed of the information being discussed and spread. Facebook and Twitter have become indispensable tools of the people in the rush to reform and maybe transform.
Most of us social media for fun..some serious stuff here and there will find its way into our discussions. But watching what is happening in Egypt makes those status updates about what I had for lunch seem kinda silly.
Will be interesting to see how this all unfolds..but man is it a different world.

Lots o deer everywhere..We put a small barrel in our front yard ..filled it with grain and went through 50 pounds of grain in about 4 days....The rabbits like it too. They jump right in the barrel..We've named one deer ,cause he has only one antler,"THE ONE WITH ONLY ONE."
PLEASE....Watch for deer when you're drivin'

Hey Chuck Squire here
Did you get a chance to watch the Golden Glode Awards..I thought Ricky Gervais was sooo funny..Several "ol stuffed shirt types" said he went overboard with his jokes and pokes......Come on..all these rich movie makers and stars take themselves way too serious...He may not be asked back to host the show again...so we may be faced with more boring presentations in the future...

Here we go again....
Dare I say it? Forecast calling for 3-6" of snow starting Sunday night into Monday..more north and west of the city , and also to the south of us in the mountain areas.
Uh-oh.
Why am I suddenly filled with a sense of dread? Well less than two weeks ago we were hit with a quick moving but pretty intense little storm ,while not depositing a lot of snow caused , iced up the roads enough to cause 100s of problems. The city seemed to be paralyzed but a combination of cold, snow icing roads and the ever present WIND...
One video of cars sliding, wheels locked and helpless, into car ..after car. after car went viral. The phrase " oh sh*t here comes another one" was heard again and again.IF nothing else. some enterprising physics teacher could use that video to demonstrate some well know principles of speed, mass, velocity and collisional energy. Of course this being the YOU TUBE era, the video was quickly edited to include the ubiquitous BENNY HILL music. Sweeeet.
OK southern Colorado.. here we go again. Snow is coming. Watch your speed...watch your distance. Give yourself plenty of room..be PATIENT.. no need to rush. Just watch yourself and others. and let's see of we can avoid being a viral video this time.

End of Days?
so here we are in the fledgling moments of the new year, and already the mood has shifted to the end of the world. We are all pretty aware of the impending doom signaled by the Mayan calendar: December 21, 2012. Either you have researched it, or sat through the pretty awful 2012 movie with Johm Cusack, which made you WISH for the end of the world sooner.
But now, according to some post I saw online, some loosely organized Christian end of day-ers are saying that the Bible says it will now happen May 21 2011. And wouldn't ya know, this week we get thousands of blackbirds falling from the sky in Arksansas, and hundreds more in Lousiana..100,000 dead fish (again in Arkansas--i know I know Arkansas so take that for what its worth)...and NOW we hear that tons of dead fish are washing up on the shores of Brazil..
OF course we are making it more difficult for animals to survive so some of this may be attributable to the decay of the enviroment. Some excuses have been offered up,,like power lines and fireworks for the birds..but nothing so far for the fish unless you go the BP route.
So will it be 2012 or just a few months away ? or just nonsense? either way..maybe a good time to make that bucket list and turn it loose this year!
