Swine Flu Charity

Coda here... I've been mulling over an idea I am hoping to get some input on: So the world is shaking with fear over the swine flu. A viral desease that can be deadly! It is common in pigs and has found a way to spread to humans. This desease lives in live pigs, so bacon, ham and sausage are still okay (thank God!) to eat. My thinking is that we can collectively help this problem with a pig roast! Not just any pig-roast, one for the whole front range! I'm thinking that we could all head out to the Banning-Lewis ranch that has been cleared for construction and start cooking! The heat will kill the virus so the meat is edible, see if we can get Coors to pony up some kegs, call up Jake Loggins for some entertainment and make a weekend out of it! Those if us into it can do some 4-wheeling, people will get fed and we can take 40-50 of these potentially pandemic spreading animals out of the equation! Whatchya think... work for you? :-)~

Broncos Original Unis are...(ughhhh) back!

As we make our way through the annual NFL draft weekend (and football starved that I am, I have to watch it!) and nash our teeth and post in blogs about the good or bad choices the Broncos make..here is something to keep in mind. This year is the 50th anniversary of that "renegade league" AFL.. and to salute that , the Broncos will have the dubious honor of getting to showcase
their ORIGINAL unis twice this season.. Purchased from the defunct Copper Bowl ..they were a lovely "mustard yellow" jersey with a nice muddy brown pant. Geez, how could that color combination not work?(sorry University of Wyoming). It's all about the bennies though...and of course these retro jerseys will be available to buy!! and how about those VERTICAL STRIPED SOCKS??? sweeeeeeeet!.. Fans recall that the Broncos had a public burning of those when they changed to the classic Orange, Blue and White.......meanwhile Knowshon Moreno as your first pick ? hmmmmmm. DEEEEEEEfense babeee DEEEEEEEfense! Let's go Josh and gang...we are waiting!

HiYa- What a great day today.. I was standing outside of the station and our vending machine guy tells me he adopted a dog from the Mill Dog Recue out in Peyton.. It really is my mission to save one dog at a time and I was thrilled because I totally remembered the pup that he adopted.. Anytime you would like to chat about possibly fostering or adopting hit me up at 532 or 545-9800 from 12-3pm. Visit my staff page on KKFM.COM and you will see the latest dog of the week and also get phone numbers and websites to direct you into bringing a little 4 legged friend into your home. I can't quit smiling today! What great news:)

You Can Get Sneakers Just Like Eddie's!!!

I mentioned this on the air Saturday, and got lots of phone calls. Eddie Van Halen has announced the release of EVH Brand Signature Striped Sneakers. For years, fans would go to Van Halen concerts with their own homemade version of the striped sneakers Eddie often wears onstage. Now you can buy your own at www.evhgear.com.

Bring It On!!!

Could be up to a foot of snow in the Springs over the next 24 hrs. - 8-10" tonight (Thurs) alone! Jeep's running strong and the tank is full... Bring it On!! And if the other drivers are to scary to be around... got firewood, crakers, Cheeze-whizz and a new bottle of Captain Morgan at home to sit it out. *Yeah Buddy* GAWD! I love the sprintime in Colorado! Rock On - Coda

John Madden takes his ball and goes home

Word today that John Madden is calling it quits. To me this is good news, because , the last few years it seems he has been kind of a parody of himself in the booth. He's always been a master of the obvious , but it seemed recently that ' ol John was not really adding much to the broadcast. Teamed with great play by play men over the years (Pat Summerall, then Al most recently on Sunday night telecasts) Madden was always the loud colorful guy who loved BRETT FARRRRRRRVE . Add in the wild circles and x's and o's and arrows on the telestrator and it was always kinda fun. No doubt the sudden death of Harry Kalas , the one time great Phillies and NFL Films announcer , had something to do with it. We have lost some true giants of the sportscasting community in the past few years: Kurt Gowdy, Jack Buck, Jim McKay among many that we all grew up with. Madden has a big family and is 73...time to step aside and enjoy it! PLus he has made TONS Of money (MADDEN video games anyone?) kick back and let someone else drive the MaddenCruuser for awhile!

HiYa-We finally got all the dogs to sit still for this. With a puppy in the house it is non-stop. Cisco is just as photogenic as Nigel ever was.. Nigel would have really loved Cisco, I miss Nige soooo much. Enough dog talk.. Hope you have had a smooth week so far, I have been so busy both at work and at home that I have to try very hard to seperate the two.. I am sure you know how I feel. Seems like when your personal life is going great your professional life suffers and vice versa. Oh well, I take it all one day at a time anyway and now am just looking forward to Friday night at the Pepsi Center for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. I have seen them before and we are all going to have a great show, I PROMISE! That is all for now:)

Much Love

WOW...I went to see and hear Elton John at World Arena this last Saturday ..I never realized how good he really is...I mean..I know he writes great song and plays piano...but he was on stage for 2 1/2 hours...all by himself and he played the piano as well as anybody I've ever heard...And even though he had to re-arrange some vocal parts ..he sounded strong and I never saw a cheat sheet with words..
If you went ,I'd like to know what you thought!!!

Orton Hears a ...BOO!

(with apologies to Dr Suess)

At 2 o'clock Sunday, the Broncos in Blue..
In the heat of the day, touchdowns too few.
He was thrashing about, not many joys
When Orton the Quarterback, heard a loud noise

So Orton stopped thrashing, looked toward the sound..
"That's funny" thought Orton, its from all around
Then he heard it again..sounded like BOO
And more were yelling, much more than two.
He looked and he looked and could see them all there
As another pass sailed aimlessly through air.

"I say " muttered Orton "I have never heard tell
of such a crowd , so angry, who can also yell
So you know what I think, why I think there must
be a Bowlen who knew this trade was a bust

A GM and Coach , both shaking with fear
knowing I would struggle...with no way to steer
I'll just have to save them Orton did call
for a Bronco's a BRONCO..no matter how small

So quickly and using the greatest of care
the Quarterback stretched his great arm through the air
and the catch was made! the ball was in ..and over the line
and the BOOs went away, and ORTON..would be...just fine

stevens GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!
